PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP

 HELLO & Greetings to you.

I am writing this letter in confidence believing that if it is the wish of God for you to help me and my family, God almighty will bless and reward you abundantly and you would never re-great this.

I am a female student from Burkina Faso University Teachings Hospitals (BUTH) Burkina Faso , Ouagadougou . My father died earlier eight months ago and left I and my junior brother behind. He was a king, which our town citizens titled him over sixteen years ago before his death. I was a princess to him and my mother is not literate enough to know my father's entire wealth.

He left the sum of USD $4.350.000.00US dollars. In a security company, this money was annually paid into my late fathers account from the Gold mining company and Colton processing Company operating in our locality for the compensation of youth and community development in our jurisdiction.

I don't know somewhere in abroad to invest the money so that my father's kindred will not take over what belongs to my father and our family because I'm a female according to our African tradition.

Now, I urgently need your humble assistance to move this money from the security company to your bank account that is why I felt happy when I saw your contact because o strongly believe that by the grace of God, you will help me invest this money wisely. I am ready to pay 20% of the total amount to you if you can help us in this transaction and another 10% interest of annual after Income to you, for handling this transaction for us, which you will strongly have absolute control over. If you can handle this project sincerely and also willing to assist me in lifting this money to your country, kindly reach me.

Please, note that this transaction is 100% risk free and I hope to start the transaction as quick as possible, I will send you my photograph as soon as I hear from you
Yours sincerely,
Princess. faith nana

Although it was unfortunate that I have not gotten a chance to involve myself in the Service Learning due to some unfortunate incident, I heard from my friends that many of the children at the service centre are very unfortunate, be it in terms of physical health or family background. I used to think almost everyone around me is normal and able-bodied, until I heard of those unfortunate children. It made me realized that even in an advanced country like Singapore, there are always people who are less fortunate than us and need our help. I look forward to the time when I can get myself experiencing the service learning, and give out a helping hand to those in need.

After the service learning, I Learned to appreciate my life more. I realize I take things I have for granted..for example some of the kids come from broken families, whereas I have a perfect one. Through this experience, it has thought me to be more appreciative and make me want to give back and make their lives better. May Allah bless us all.

Though i did not attend the service learning  session yet due to time constrain, i can infer from y fellow classmmates the joy and happiness they get out of teaching younger children. It gives them the satisfication and i believe such service learning programmes help us, student, understand and be more exposed to reality out there. Example we haven't had the opportunity of teaching younger students before and via the service learning session, some of us were able to identify the pros and cons of teaching these students and the methods that can be use and thus also understanding the work that the teachers who have been teaching them, go through everyday.

This service learning has taught me many new things that i would not be able to learn without doing the activities. I saw how kids from dis functional families and feel very privileged to be from a normal family. I used to have a misconception that it is a must for everyone to be from a normal family, however after this service learning, i am learned that my assumption was wrong. i hope to be able to do more of this service to the community in the future. 3I Teo Zhi Rui (31)

CE REFLECTIONS - Joel Guek (7) 3I

During the service learning, I experienced and learned many new things. Apart from guiding the young kids in their academics, I also had the opportunity to take control over them. Although it was not easy waking up early in the morning to rush to the student care, I persevered. Each time I felt sleepy, I think of "Nil Sine Labore". There were few kids that come from broken families. One of them had a gambling addict father, sick mother, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Oldest 2 brothers are in jail for consuming drugs. 3rd brother has down syndrome and the oldest sister has cancer. Only he and his 2nd sister is normal. From that, I learnt to appreciate my family more. Also, I released my tortoise into the pond outside the classroom as it is dying soon in my bathroom sink. I learnt to give life as life is precious. Although my tortoise is not with me, it will always be in my heart. I love you tortoise. Also, not forgetting the main organizer for the service learning whom have not even done a single hour. I would like to thank Mr Tan Wil Beng for this fruitful experience. I would also like to thank my father for fetching me to the centre everyday, my mother for cooking lunch for me when I reach home. My brother for not snatching the computer with me after my service learning. 谢谢!

The service learning conducted at Ngee Ann Primary School has been an eye-opener for me. This experience has taught me the importance of not judging a book by its cover and how to continue to persevere on even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Those kids there have a unique disposition in terms of behavior and as such can make thing difficult for us, their minders. Yet however, I enjoyed my time spent there and find it to be time well spent as not a single minute spent in the service of our community is a wasted minute. Overall, such activities are enriching both for the participant and whoever he is reaching out to and as such can be considered mutually beneficial.

In the future, I can see myself getting involved in such activities as this is not the first time I have participated in an activity of this vein and actually have participated in similar activities with members of other schools and organizations out of my free will and in my free time.

The service learning had taught me a lot of things, like how some people are less fortunate to be in a family centre. I have realised that not all of the people are lucky to be in a well-off family. I used to think that everyone can receive education but now I know that there are a lot of people in this world out there that really need help because they cannot receive proper education even if they want to. However I do not see myself doing that frequently in the future as I do not have enough time, but I will always try my best to help the needy.

the serving learning was awesome. Looking at how determine he kids want to learn taught me to never give up . even if u are down so low that u think u can never come back up i now know that i must persevere through whatever i do . For me now i have a big challange ahead of me , i hope that i can have that same determination of this kids to pesevere through it and make me a better man . Like how Victoria School has taught me NIL SINE LABOURE ~~

The service learning project was definitely a wholesome and enriching experience for me. It helped me to realise the importance of giving back to the society like teaching the kids at the marine parade family service centre. I learnt that we can help people not just materialistically such as giving them gifts and presents, but we can also provide help and services to the needy like teaching the less fortunate children. Not only did it remind us that there are indeed people around who need our help , but it also taught us to be more patient. I can definitely see myself doing these kinds of activities in the future as i truly enjoyed myself

3I Kevin (11)

In service learning, i went to the Marine Parade Family Service Centre to look after the less fortunate children. I taught and helped them in their studies. Though it required alot of patience, seeing them smiling with their happy faces has made me rest assured by telling me that there is hope in their future and it is a bright one. This service learning has not only allowed me to gain more confidence and experience in life, but also be thankful of what we have. I hope that i am able to participate in these enrichment classes more in the future and have unforgettable memories along with it.

The less fortunate. I always thought that only meant poor people.Coming from a good primary school and entering a premier school i had the impression that learning and scoring averagely well was normal and everyone could learn at almost the same pace, however after i visited the less priviledged kids at nan chiau childcare, I realised that some children do not learn as quickly get extremely distracted easily and give up without a single attempt.Within a few minutes it was evident to me that only by being patient and calm , then can the children settle down and absorb.even then, they get distracted from time to time and each thing has to be repeated several times.being usually on one side of an argument.i found myself in a state as they made faces at each other and quarrelled even about things like age differences. whether i should scold or restrain them physically or pursuade them i really didn't know.in the end i decided to draw the fire to myself, and that ended the little chapter.Further into  the session, i understood why people say that being too nice to young ones will result in them "climbing onto your head".they became more rebellious and even just walking off when they felt like it.i guess i discovered why teachers always have to send people to face the wall and so on. the way of teaching should more correctly be "be nice but not too much" rather than just being nice all the way because only by doing so then can the point get through to them .i could say that this experience was really good as it really tested my patience which VERY THANKFULLY could still last a lot more. it also was a test of skills which i found was very similar to the skills i required in my CCA.

in a united decision, my and my batchmates felt that the best way to teach and get the interest of sec1's, when they first entered was to relate and interact well with them, in turn, be nice to them. And, this created the same problems as it did in the childcare, the sec1's also commonly quarrelled with each other and i think the experience was like a review of  what i learnt in my CCA. now, i will always appreciate the efforts of the teacher in retaining the interest of the class and will appreciate if the the teacher is nice

in future, i will give back to society definitely. If i were extremely rich, i would not really donate much, but i will take the time to actually go the the place to see the person, help him/her or entertain(if it is old folks)or teach(if it is children). i always see myself devoting a few years of life doing this and i really think the value of doing this really goes alot further and just donating and thats it.money would still be required, but i would really do more in spending time. the interactive value in the fact that another person is better of with you around and acutally knowing you really goes very very far

i have learnt many things, but i sincerely hope that the children whom i have thought have learnt things that i taught as well. At the most basic, i believe i have taught them resiliency when i continuously rejected to help them when they refused to try.Actually i think i will stick to hoping, but i hope i made a difference in their lives. made it better

Doing the Service Learning has provided me with an opportunity to reflect on my blessings, as I contrast them with others'. These children come from diverse backgrounds, and all of them unprivileged. They have a variety of characteristics, but they are,at most times, very restless and unable to concentrate on their work. When faced with a problem such as this, it takes a considerable amount of patience not to lose your head. I guess the best way isn't to restrain them, and deal with them as positively as possible, and make a point to disguise all your demands as requests. If they feel that you are restricting them, they will struggle against you all the more. Admittedly, I wasn't so good at this aspect, only managing to control some of them at any given time. But this has also given me a chance to work with a very demanding environment and given me a a new found will to help those, who like them, are not as lucky as us.

The children also, in some respects, reflect our class as a whole, with recurring characters, some of them interesting, some of them lacking. It was, in all a very bumpy ride, but we all managed to pull through. If I could, I'd want to help out more like this. What I'd like very much is to return there and assist in any capacity, but I guess it's a rather uphill task seeing as we left on a sour note. This Service Learning has been a challenge for us, but I hope to come out better from it.

The Service Learning was an unforgettable experience for me as i got an opportunity to help the less fortunate in my society and appreciate them. This experience has spurred me to participate in more community-based projects  for greater and larger causes.Helping out the less fortunate is an excellent way to spend my free time as i am more than willing to share my knowledge to the less fortunate. Therefore, next time when someone asks me to help out in a community based project, i would not hesitate to say yes.

The Service-Learning was a whole new experience for me as I have hardly been exposed to doing any type of community work before. My class's Service-Learning was based about having to take care of children at a daycare centre. The greatest obstacle would be able to be able to communicate with the children, but the best moments are the ones when I get the satisfaction of knowing that I am helping and teaching the children how to read.

I think that the Service-Learning has somewhat changed me in a sense that I no longer view myself as the centre of the world and opened up to people around me who need help. In the long run, I do see myself helping people in the community when I grow up as I have learned that what goes around come around. There are always people in the world who need help and for me to render my assistance to someone means that that person would be able to help someone out in the future.

Yet another exciting day had passed and today I had just provided my service to help those students that were weak in their school work. Working with them helped me to remember what it was like back then when I was in primary school where I usually had others to assist and tutor me about topics and concepts that I felt was confusing. As this is a feeling that I remembered, I am happy that I am able to give back to the society in this way as it was what made my current state of life possible an it is just a form of gratitude to return to the society. After having this opportunity to return I have learnt and finally experienced the other point of view of how peer tutoring works. During this experience, at the beginning I felt nervous having to face someone who is younger than me and interacting with them. There was a sense of achievement when I manage to help them in one way or another, teaching them and having bits of laughter. This was the indescribable feeling whenever you face them, explaining with such detail, as their eyes stare at you. This is yet another memory etched deeply into my mind. In future when I have a second try, I would really want to try and help them much more, as I love to see the glee when they achieve manage to solve the problems.

The Service Learning has taught me how to be patient and give to the society whenever we can regardless of what we do. We enjoy getting new stuff , but there is joy in giving and I learnt about it during the service learning. After this enriching experience I will not even think twice whether to go for any other CE project…..

3I Ng Han Wei (23)

How has the service-learning experience changed my thinking, attitudes, and actions towards others, myself and the community?

Service learning has taught me to be more tolerant and treat things with a calm attitude. I have learnt that being intolerable will not help the situation. After the service learning, I have become more patient and do things in a calmer fashion.

What stands out as the best or worst thing that happened to you in your service learning experience? What did you learn from these experiences?

My worst experience during my service learning was when the children refused to listen and follow instructions and started to scatter all over the place. I have learnt that it is not easy to get people to follow and listen to you just from shouting instructions.

Do you see yourself staying involved in the community during your college and adult years? Why or why not?

Yes I see myself staying involved in the community in the future. I have found that helping other people can be quite enjoyable at times and it is an opportunity for me to observe how life is for other people than myself and I will be able to enrich my knowledge further.
